Job summary

Verda, expanding into new markets, seeks two Senior Accountants to own day-to-day accounting for its subsidiaries in Helsinki. You will run the books, coordinate with local advisors, and help build solid financial processes as the group scales.

You will oversee month-end close under Finnish GAAP, manage local providers, ensure statutory and tax compliance, monitor cash flow, and seek process improvements. Fluent Finnish and English, strong Excel, and outsourcing experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of accounting experience, ideally at a Finnish international startup or scaleup.
• Strong knowledge of Finnish accounting standards (FAS) and statutory reporting, plus basic understanding of VAT and corporate income tax.
• Proven experience managing external service providers.
• Fluent Finnish and English, written and spoken.
• Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills.
• Comfort using AI tools for reconciliations, reporting or process documentation.
• Attention to detail, plus strong organisation and communication skills.
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting for your subsidiaries from start to finish: bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Manage local outsourced providers (accounting firm, payroll provider, local auditors) so statutory reporting is accurate and on time.
• Review monthly figures during month-end close under Finnish GAAP and group reporting requirements, focusing on accruals, capex and intercompany transactions.
• Ensure each subsidiary meets local statutory, tax (VAT, corporate tax) and regulatory filing requirements with support from local advisors.
• Monitor cash flow to ensure subsidiaries always have funds.
• Find ways to streamline and improve local accounting processes and controls.
• Help set up and grow new subsidiaries: learn local compliance, set up chart of accounts, roll out AP approval tool and connect local bank accounts.
