Job summary

Ōura is seeking a Staff Antenna Design Engineer to develop high performing miniaturized antennas and RF for our wearable devices. You will design, simulate, and validate antennas from concept to production, ensuring performance in compact form factors.

You will collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams, perform OTA testing, and iterate designs to optimize wearables for real-world use. Travel 5–20% annually with a focus on quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in antenna and RF design, preferably for compact consumer electronics, wearables or IoT devices.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools such as CST Microwave Studio, Ansys HFSS or others.
• Experience with antenna measurement tools (e.g., vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, radio communication testers, OTA chambers).
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, antenna concepts, matching networks, and PCB layout considerations for antennas.
• Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Knowledge of Industry Standards and Regulatory Requirements: be familiar with industry standards and regulations related to wireless communication (FCC, ETSI, ITU).

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and optimize antennas for low-power wearable devices, including multi-band multisystem solutions.
• Perform electromagnetic simulations (e.g., CST, HFSS, others) and validate designs with bench and OTA measurements.
• Build prototypes quickly and effectively to evaluate design concepts.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to integrate antennas into highly constrained form factors.
• Conduct OTA performance testing and troubleshooting in collaboration with other engineering teams.
• Drive root cause analysis and design iteration for antenna performance issues in prototypes and production units.
• Work with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and the company manufacturing teams to ensure antenna performance is maintained throughout production.
• Document design processes, results, and performance metrics for internal knowledge sharing and regulatory compliance.
• Stay up to date on emerging materials, methods, and technologies in miniature antenna design.
• Travel to support prototype builds in both Europe and Asia: ~5-20% of time yearly
