Job summary

Ōura is seeking a Staff Antenna Design Engineer to develop high-performing miniaturized antennas and RF for future wearable products. You will design, simulate, and validate antennas with CST/HFSS, perform OTA measurements, and collaborate cross-functionally to integrate antennas in compact form factors.

You will travel ~5-20% annually to support prototypes in Europe and Asia, leveraging you 10+ years of experience in antenna/RF design and a strong physics/EE background.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of antenna and RF design experience for compact electronics/wearables/IoT.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
• Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools (CST HFSS or similar).
• Experience with antenna measurement tools (VNA, spectrum analyzers, OTA chambers).
• Strong RF fundamentals, antenna concepts, matching networks, PCB layout for antennas.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and optimize antennas for wearable devices.
• Perform electromagnetic simulations and validate with bench and OTA measurements.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to fit antennas into compact form factors.
• Conduct OTA performance testing and troubleshoot with other teams.
• Document design processes and performance metrics for internal use.

We are looking for a Staff Antenna Design Engineer to develope high performing miniaturized antennas and RF to our future products.

What You Will Do:

• You will create high performing wearable products.
• Design, simulate, and optimize antennas for low-power wearable devices, including multi-band multisystem solutions.
• Perform electromagnetic simulations (e.g., CST, HFSS, others) and validate designs with bench and OTA measurements.
• Build prototypes quickly and effectively to evaluate design concepts
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to integrate antennas into highly constrained form factors.
• Conduct over-the-air (OTA) performance testing and troubleshooting in collaboration with other engineering teams.
• Drive root cause analysis and design iteration for antenna performance issues in prototypes and production units.
• Work with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and Oura manufacturing teams to ensure antenna performance is maintained throughout production.
• Document design processes, results, and performance metrics for internal knowledge sharing and regulatory compliance.
• Stay up to date on emerging materials, methods, and technologies in miniature antenna design.
• Travel to support prototype builds in both Europe and Asia: ~5-20% of time yearly

We Would Love to Consider You for this Role if You Have:

• 10+ years experience in antenna and RF design, preferably for compact consumer electronics, wearables or IoT devices
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools such as CST Microwave Studio, Ansys HFSS or others
• Experience with antenna measurement tools (e.g., vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, radio communication testers, OTA chambers).
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, antenna concepts, matching networks, and PCB layout considerations for antennas.
• Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Knowledge of Industry Standards and Regulatory Requirements: Be familiar with industry standards and regulations related to wireless communication, such as those from the FCC, ETSI, or ITU.

Nice to have:

• Experience designing antennas for wearable or ultra-compact devices.
• Familiarity with Bluetooth, BLE, NFC, Wireless charging and other multi-system antenna solutions and RF protocols
• Knowledge of SAR compliance and RF regulatory requirements.
• Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners.
