Job summary

Tampere University seeks a Staff Scientist to advance research in autonomous and electrified mobile machines, maintain and develop laboratory infra, and contribute to software and hardware engineering practices. The role involves safety oversight in laboratories and collaboration with multiple research groups.

You will engage in bachelor and master thesis supervision, work with international teams, and support dissemination of research results within an international setting.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering or related field.
• Practical experience with robotics, modern computers, and sensing.
• Experience and expertise in hardware and software engineering and embedded systems.
• Experience with laboratory research and relevant mobile work machine equipment.
• Experience with safety in the laboratories and mobile working machines is appreciated.
• Experience in teaching is appreciated.
• Good presentation, communication and documentation skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Support research in autonomous and electrified mobile machines and maintain our infra.
• Promote and enable good software and hardware engineering practices.
• Plan and develop the research infra further, ensure safety in laboratories.
• Contribute to public demonstrators and production of outreach materials.
