Job summary

VTT is inviting a Master’s Thesis Worker to join our automated vehicles research team in Tampere. You will complete a Master’s thesis focusing on sensor data processing for situation awareness in automated vehicles and machines, with tasks spanning software development, experimental work, and documentation.

We seek a student pursuing a relevant Master's degree with experience in signal processing and programming (Python/C++).

Qualifications

• Pursuing a relevant Master's degree and ready to start thesis.
• Experience in signal processing and programming (Python/C++).
• Strong maths/physics background for sensing tech and data.
• Ability to work and communicate in English.
• Holder of a valid European B driving licence.
• Interested in defence sector research with NATO and Finnish Defence Forces.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out a Master's thesis on sensor data processing.
• Develop and implement software and algorithms for situation awareness.
• Participate in experimental work in lab and test fields.
• Document work and communicate findings systematically.
• Contribute to research tasks including HD maps, data spaces, connectivity, AI and driver monitoring.
