Job summary

Verda is building a full-stack AI cloud; this Staff Engineer for Cloud role sets technical direction across multiple domains and teams, collaborating with Leads, Engineering Managers, Product, and our Principal Engineer to ensure coherent architecture as Cloud grows. This hands-on IC role requires strong judgement and a track record of solving hard technical problems.

Qualifications

• Evidence of leading technical work beyond a single team.
• Ability to build and operate production systems in core languages.
• Strong judgement on architecture, APIs, data, reliability, security, and operability.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction across multiple Cloud domains and teams, identifying where local decisions fit into a coherent whole.
• Lead high-impact, cross-team technical initiatives end to end, staying close to code and production systems.
• Partner with Leads, the Principal Engineer, Product, and Engineering Managers to align architecture and surface trade-offs.
• Set and uphold engineering standards for correctness, testing, security, observability, performance, and data integrity.
• Resolve cross-domain disagreements and document the rationale behind decisions so others can follow.
• Review designs and code, and mentor senior engineers through real work.
• Turn recurring incidents into durable systemic fixes rather than patches.
