Merima in Helsinki seeks a Solution Sourcing Specialist to identify supplier, material and manufacturing alternatives that enable more cost-effective proposals for demanding shipbuilding projects.

You will drive supplier RFQs, assess technical requirements, and ensure accurate pricing within tender timelines. A technically/commercially minded professional with Finnish and English communication skills is expected to challenge costs and contribute to value engineering.

As a Solution Sourcing Specialist, you will have a direct impact on the quality, competitiveness and reliability of our proposals. You will identify and develop supplier, material and manufacturing alternatives that enable us to offer better, more cost-effective solutions to our customers.

You will be part of our Sales & Marketing team, working closely with Key Account Developers, Solution Experts, Solution & Cost Specialists and Procurement & Supply Chain (PSC).

In this role, you will:

• Look beyond the usual suppliers. Explore supplier markets, discover new suppliers, materials and manufacturing methods, and identify alternatives that improve the competitiveness of our solutions.
• Turn technical needs into reliable quotations. Take ownership of supplier RFQs, clarify technical requirements and ensure our costing specialists receive accurate and reliable pricing information within agreed timelines.
• Challenge the cost, not just the price. Question established solutions and cost structures, benchmark alternatives and find ways to improve cost efficiency without compromising quality or feasibility.
• Make better solutions possible. Contribute sourcing expertise to solution development and Value Engineering by evaluating supplier options, pricing, lead times and potential risks.
• Connect tendering with execution. Ensure supplier quotations, alternatives and cost assumptions are clearly documented and handed over to Procurement & Supply Chain, which is responsible for final supplier selection and purchasing commitments.
• Build relationships that create opportunities. Develop strong supplier relationships and explore what new capabilities and solutions our supplier network could bring to Merima and our customers.
• Share what you discover. Exchange market intelligence, cost benchmarks and sourcing expertise with Procurement & Supply Chain, strengthening sourcing capabilities and competitiveness across Merima.

Your success will not be measured by the number of quotations you collect, but by the better alternatives you discover, the reliability of our costing inputs and the competitiveness of the solutions we create.

Could you be one of us?

• We are not looking for someone who simply sends out RFQs or follows established purchasing routines. We are looking for a technically and commercially minded professional who understands what drives costs and knows how to challenge them.
• You have experience in technical sourcing, supplier markets or procurement, preferably within shipbuilding, marine interiors or another demanding technical industry. You understand materials, manufacturing methods and technical drawings, and know how to consider quality, certification and relevant IMO requirements.
• You can communicate confidently with suppliers, challenge quotations and manufacturing approaches, and drive sourcing enquiries to completion even under demanding tender timelines. You are comfortable working with developing technical information and finding practical ways forward when not every detail is available.
• Above all, you are curious, proactive and willing to challenge conventional thinking. You look beyond your own responsibilities and understand how your work affects cost estimation, project execution and Merima's overall competitiveness. You share your expertise, take ownership and keep your promises.
• The role requires a relevant technical or commercial education and good communication skills in Finnish and English.
