Job summary

Paf is seeking a backend developer to join the Compliance Team. The role focuses on scalable AWS-based microservices, with freedom to choose the best tech solutions and a commitment to regulatory reporting across multiple markets.

The team is five people, English-speaking, with flexible remote options and a central Helsinki presence. The package includes vacation, health benefits, and a supportive culture.

Qualifications

• 3+ years backend development experience, preferably with Node.js/TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and cloud services (AWS).
• Experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Backend development: design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems in an AWS-based microservices setup.

About the Team

The Compliance Team is a close-knit, humble team of 5 members responsible for handling regulatory requirements and reporting to authorities in multiple countries where Paf holds gaming licenses (Sweden, Malta, Spain, Åland,Estonia, and Latvia). The team ensures accurate and timely compliance reporting and develops and maintains systems that enable Paf to adhere to local laws and regulations.

Your Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems within an AWS-based microservices architecture.
• Infrastructure: Work with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation and build and manage CI/CD pipelines.
• Automation & Integration: Automate processes and integrate with AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SNS, SQS, and CloudWatch.
• Regulatory Reporting: Ensure that our systems meet the specific requirements of each licensed market.

Required Profile

• Experience: At least 3+ years of backend development experience, preferably with Node.js/TypeScript; experience with Java or Python is also a plus.
• Technical Competence: A strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud services, particularly AWS.
• IaC Knowledge: Experience working with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Problem Solving: The ability to quickly identify and resolve issues with a precise and systematic approach.
• Language: Fluent English, as our team communicates exclusively in English.
