Job summary

Unity is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Web Platform to help define the architecture of the Unity Web runtime. You will own the technical direction, tackle deep performance-sensitive problems in WebAssembly/LLVM/Emscripten, and collaborate across teams to shape the platform.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and work on native, browser-embedded runtime work that goes beyond typical website development.

Qualifications

• Expert level C++ in low-level, performance sensitive code.
• Experience with WebAssembly, Emscripten and/or LLVM.
• Proven track record of owning architecture for a platform or runtime.
• Ability to run deep root cause analysis on complex problems.
• Strong independent work ethic and long-term planning for platform goals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; can translate tech trade-offs for leadership.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across a team.

Responsibilities

• Help own the technical direction and architecture of the Unity Web platform
• Resolve complex, multidimensional runtime problems with deep root cause analysis
• Research, design and implement optimizations for Unity Web builds (code stripping, progressive asset loading, multi-threading)
• Prioritize and deliver platform work shaped with your manager
• Be the first line of support for Unity teams and partners needing core Web platform work
• Mentor engineers and set the bar for code quality across the team
• Translate technical trade-offs into clear recommendations for leaders across Unity
