Job summary

Eaton in Vantaa, Finland, is seeking a Systems Engineer to define and maintain requirements, interfaces and traceability for the Medium Voltage Solid State Transformer (MVSST) projects. You will ensure requirements are clear, verifiable and linked to verification activities across the development lifecycle.

You will work with global teams to allocate requirements, maintain interface models, and support system architecture, trade studies and risk analyses while aligning with regulatory standards

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of systems engineering or electrical product development experience.
• Experience in requirements engineering and verification/validation.
• Familiarity with model-based systems engineering is a plus.

• Define and maintain product requirements, interfaces and end-to-end traceability for MVSST development.
• Develop system, subsystem and component requirements from customer, product and regulatory needs.
• Define and maintain electrical, mechanical, firmware, control, and communication interfaces between system components.
• Support model-based systems engineering and maintain interface models in engineering tools.
• Allocate requirements to subsystems and collaborate with teams.
• Establish bidirectional traceability from stakeholder needs to design outputs and test evidence.
• Review requirements for clarity, completeness, and testability.

What You’ll Do

• Systems Engineer responsible for defining and maintaining product requirements, component interfaces, and end-to-end requirements traceability for the Medium Voltage Solid State Transformer (MVSST) product development projects. Ensures requirements are clear, allocated, verifiable, and covered by verification and validation activities throughout product development.
• Develop and maintain system, subsystem, and component requirements based on customer, product, regulatory, and stakeholder needs.
• Define, document, and maintain electrical, mechanical, firmware, control, communication, and functional interfaces between system components.
• Support the model-based systems engineering approach and maintain requirements and interface models in the selected engineering tools.
• Allocate requirements to relevant subsystems and engineering disciplines in collaboration with the relevant teams.
• Establish and maintain bidirectional traceability from stakeholder needs and product requirements to design outputs, test cases, and verification evidence.
• Review requirements for clarity, completeness, consistency, feasibility, and testability.
• Collaborate with validation engineers to define verification methods, acceptance criteria, and test coverage for requirements.
• Monitor requirements coverage, identify gaps, and support timely resolution before design and milestone reviews.
• Support system architecture, trade-off studies, design reviews, risk analysis, and change-impact assessment.
• Contribute to compliance documentation by linking applicable standards and regulatory requirements to the product requirements and verification evidence.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to align requirements, interfaces, and development practices.
• Act ethically and according to Eaton Values and Philosophy, following company rules and policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, electrical product development, requirements engineering, or verification and validation of complex technical products

Skills

• Experience in requirements development and management, interface definition, requirements traceability, and verification planning.
• Understanding of systems engineering and product development lifecycles.
• Familiarity with model-based systems engineering and requirements management tools.Knowledge of power electronics, medium-voltage equipment, UPS, or other complex electrical systems is an advantage.
• Structured and analytical working style, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and global teams, and attention to detail in technical documentation
• Experience leading cross-functional development teams, strong communication skills
