Eaton is expanding its Critical Power Solutions campus in Vantaa, Finland, a hub for R&D, manufacturing, warehousing, sales, and service near Helsinki airport. The Mechanical Design Engineer will design, document, test, and improve UPS system components and accessories, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize cost and performance.

Qualifications include a Bachelor or Master in Mechanical Engineering and up to five years of design experience.

• Act as a Mechanical Design Engineer for UPS systems and accessories.
• Sheet metal, die cast, and injection mold design.
• Material design and surface treatment selection.
• Product cost optimization.
• DFSS tool utilization.
• Design for maintainability.
• Design for safety.
• Cable and harness design.
• Specifying prototypes and building them hands on.
• Documenting mechanical, harness, and assembly (BOM) designs.
• Analyzing and solving product issues.
• Providing technical support on UPS systems to Product Management, Technical Support, and Sales.

Eaton's new campus for its critical power systems in Vantaa, Finland, was completed in November 2023. The 16,500 m² site houses research and development, manufacturing, warehousing, sales and service under one roof, which will create plenty of additional jobs.

What You’ll Do

Act as a Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for making, innovating, documenting, and testing mechanical designs of UPS systems and accessories.

Key Responsibilities

• Sheet metal, die cast, and injection mold design


• Material design and surface treatment selection


• Product cost optimization


• DFSS tool utilization


• Design for maintainability


• Design for safety


• Cable and harness design


• Specifying prototypes and building them hands on


• Documenting mechanical, harness, and assembly (BOM) designs


• Analyzing and solving product issues


• Providing technical support on UPS systems to Product Management, Technical Support, and Sales

Qualifications

Skills

• Basic understanding of material properties & manufacturing methods.


• Good verbal and written communications in English.


• Prior experince working with 3D CAD software.


• Ability to work in a project team under moderate guidance.
