Job summary

DNA is seeking a Senior Software Architect to shape a large-scale B2B online platform, focusing on lean, secure, and scalable architecture in a cloud-native microservice environment.

You will lead architectural decisions, review critical designs, and work closely with engineering teams to translate strategy into production-ready software while enabling AI‑enabled engineering and agentic practices across the platform.

Senior Software Architect (B2B online platform)

We are looking for a Senior Software Architect to shape and evolve DNA’s B2B online platform, powering eCommerce and self-service. The platform is evolving toward a more lean and clearly structured architecture. This requires architectural decisions that actively reduce complexity while ensuring high availability, strong security, and safe independent deployments. The environment is built on a cloud‑native microservice architecture, integrated with core DNA services. We are strengthening in‑house architectural ownership of this platform, making the role critical to the future of DNA’s digital customer experience. You will combine architectural leadership with strong communication, taking clear architectural decisions when needed, ensuring they are understood, documented, and followed, while staying open to input and learning. You will also contribute to DNA’s shift toward AI‑enabled engineering and agentic development, helping teams adopt agentic practices in a scalable and controlled way through shared guidance, repeatable workflows, and architectural guardrails. At the same time, you will ensure that production changes meet high standards for security, quality, and human oversight. The position is located in Helsinki, but our flexible work concept allows you to work remotely from anywhere in Finland. To keep our team spirit strong, we enjoy getting together in person every now and then! We organize regular planning days in Helsinki and value the energy that comes from working side‑by‑side occasionally.

What You Will Do

Define and evolve the target architecture for a large‑scale B2B online platform with a focus on scalability, reliability, maintainability, security, and cost efficiency in collaboration with enterprise and solution architects.

Lead architectural work across online microservices and APIs, ensuring clear boundaries, consistent patterns, and a strong engineering baseline.

Stay close to implementation by reviewing critical designs and code, creating reference implementations when needed, and helping development teams turn architectural direction into production‑ready solutions.

Embed security‑by‑design into architecture and development by defining and promoting secure architectural principles, integration patterns, and development guidelines to protect customer and business‑critical data.

Facilitate trade‑off discussions and make decisions when opinions differ, balancing business needs, technical risks, and long‑term sustainability.

Act as a key technical partner for leadership: support with complex technical topics, security and technology risk management, and architectural prioritization.

Strengthen engineering practices that enable speed with safety, including testable architecture, CI/CD thinking, and automated quality and security checks.

Support teams in responsibly integrating AI and agentic approaches into architecture and ways of working, ensuring governance, consistency, and production readiness.

What We’re Looking For

Solid experience as a Software Architect / Lead Engineer in complex, business‑critical systems.

Strong hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot, combined with the ability and willingness to work close to the code and help teams translate architecture into working software.

Strong understanding of microservice architectures and integration design (API‑first thinking).

Experience with eCommerce platforms and complex product catalogs, ideally in industries with configurable products, subscriptions, or service‑based offerings.

Cloud‑native mindset and production orientation, including observability, reliability, and security‑by‑design.

Excellent communication skills: you can explain architecture clearly to both engineers and business stakeholders.

Confidence to drive alignment and decisions under uncertainty.

Strong understanding of agentic development and AI‑enabled engineering, and ability to define architectural guardrails for scalable, secure, and sustainable platforms.

This position requires an approved statement of security clearance.
