Job summary

Nordea in Helsinki, Finland, seeks a Senior IT Operations Engineer with a strong DevOps profile to join the Trading Data Warehouse & BI team, focusing on Snowflake operations. You will design, automate, monitor, and operate data warehousing solutions, turning manual tasks into repeatable processes and applying AI where appropriate.

You will collaborate with data engineering, tech leads, and stakeholders to improve practices, implement robust runbooks, and ensure secure, high‑quality data

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Snowflake operations with strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, security, and access control.
• Proficiency in SQL and database design, with performance tuning and query optimization in Snowflake.
• Good Python skills (or Shell) for automation, tooling, testing and utilities.
• Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, Git, and Ansible (or similar).
• Understanding of data pipelines, warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes.

Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and manage Snowflake environment including databases, schemas, roles, and security controls.
• Optimize Snowflake performance and storage via query tuning and resource management.
• Automate repetitive tasks including environment setup, deployments, releases, backups, replication and incident handling.
• Build reusable scripts/tools using Python, SQL, Ansible to speed up delivery and reliability.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and logging to support reliable data flows and incident resolution.
