Job summary

Nordea is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Helsinki to own data solutions end-to-end within the High Risk Change & Development team. The role is permanent and full-time, based in Helsinki, Finland, integrating data engineering and modern platforms to support debt management and related processes.

You will work across teams, design robust data models and pipelines, and apply AI to improve efficiency and reliability while maintaining strong data security and governance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, information technology, data engineering or relevant technical field
• Strong experience in data engineering and data warehousing, building large-scale data solutions
• Comfortable taking full ownership from requirements to production
• Strong SQL and Python skills
• Experience with Oracle databases and DataStage ETL
• Experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, dbt, Airflow)
• Proficient in data modelling
• Experience with enterprise API integration
• Solid engineering practices (git, CI/CD, automated testing)
• A growth mindset and willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Understand the business domain to effectively understand and build data flows and models supporting data needs and requirements
• End-to-end ownership of the work from requirement to design, from development to test and release readiness
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in and outside of the team
• Set a high standard for what you deliver, prioritizing robustness, stability and maintainability
• Stay current with AI assisted development and adopt AI to increase efficiency, maintainability, and reliability
