Job summary

Uneek Global in Helsinki is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on major Data Centre projects. You will manage budgets, forecasts and subcontractor packages, reporting variances and driving contract compliance across a major project team in Finland.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying or related field with six+ years of contractor-side experience and strong cost control, reporting and negotiation skills. Finnish knowledge is beneficial but not essential.

• Experience managing subcontract packages through full lifecycle.
• Good understanding of cost control, forecasting and reporting.
• Experience with variations, claims, and final accounts.
• English fluency; Finnish language skills are advantageous but not essential.

Senior Quantity Surveyor | Data Centres | Helsinki, Finland | €130,000

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing construction contractor delivering major Data Centre, Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing and Critical Environment projects across Finland and Northern Europe.

Due to continued growth and a strong Nordic project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major project team in Helsinki.

This is an opportunity to take commercial responsibility for a high-profile project with a blue-chip client. You will manage projects and packages from a commercial and contractual perspective, working closely with project teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors.

What You Will Be Doing

• Managing the commercial delivery of major construction projects and packages.
• Monitoring project budgets, costs, forecasts and overall commercial performance.
• Reporting actual costs against estimates and identifying and resolving commercial variances.
• Managing subcontractors from procurement and appointment through to final account.
• Reviewing tender and contract documentation to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Managing variations, claims, contractual correspondence and change-control processes.
• Preparing and managing Extension of Time (EOT) notifications and supporting documentation.
• Ensuring subcontract agreements accurately reflect the agreed scope and contractual requirements.
• Working closely with project teams to ensure contractual obligations are understood and managed.
• Monitoring project performance to ensure works remain commercially on track.
• Producing commercial reports covering project progress, risks, issues and proposed solutions.
• Developing strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team.
• Providing proactive commercial and contractual advice throughout project delivery.

What We Are Looking For

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related construction discipline.
• At least six years of Quantity Surveying or commercial management experience.
• Strong contractor-side commercial experience.
• Experience managing subcontract packages throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting.
• Experience managing variations, claims, contractual correspondence and final accounts.
• Good understanding of FIDIC, YSE 1998, NEC, JCT or comparable construction contracts.
• Data Centre experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing or other technically complex sectors will also be considered.
• Experience working on projects in Finland, the Nordic region or wider European markets is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Finnish construction practices and supply chains would be beneficial.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Ability to critically review contracts and commercial documentation.
• Strong client and stakeholder-management skills.
• Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to operate independently while supporting junior members of the commercial team.
• Professional fluency in English; Finnish language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
