Job summary

Head Energy Consulting AS is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer to lead dynamic simulations for grid-connection and compliance projects. You will own end-to-end studies, build models, validate results, and develop custom dynamic models for clients and grid operators.

The role requires 5+ years in power system studies, expertise in PSSE/PSCAD/PowerFactory/ETAP, and MATLAB/Python scripting. English is mandatory; Finnish or Swedish is also required.

Qualifications

• Educational requirement: Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization preferred.
• Fluent in spoken and written English; Finnish or Swedish is a must.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Experience: 5+ years in power system studies and modeling.
• Programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead dynamic/transient simulation studies using PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSS/E for grid-connection and compliance projects.
• Own end-to-end delivery of Grid code compliance studies including model build and validation.
• Develop and maintain user-defined dynamic models (generators, converters, BESS, HVDC/FACTS).
• Support black-start, islanding, and power quality/harmonics studies for clients.
• Act as technical point of contact for stakeholders on dynamic scope and submissions.
• Review models and reports and enforce quality standards across the team.
• Contribute to model library and templates for consistency and speed.
• Support proposals with technical input for dynamic simulation scope.
• Mentor and upskill junior engineers on dynamic simulation tools and grid codes.
