Job summary

Switchgear Magazine in Tampere, Finland, is seeking a Lead Engineer for MV Components to design, select, and integrate medium voltage components within global FACTS projects.

You will drive technical excellence, lead engineering activities from tender to delivery, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards while collaborating with multiple international teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Substantial experience with Electrical Component Engineering or Substation Equipment design in MV/HV domains.
• Strong written and spoken English; Finnish language skills are a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Execute design, specification, and evaluation of MV components (reactors, capacitor banks, surge arresters, instrument transformers).
• Lead technical reviews of vendor drawings, data sheets, and test reports.
• Manage MV component integration into FACTS system design with cross‑functional teams.
• Ensure designs meet IEC/IEEE standards and internal quality/safety protocols.
• Support Sourcing and Tender teams with technically optimized and cost‑effective solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote continuous technical excellence.
