Job summary

Smartly in Helsinki is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the AI Platform Team. You will design, build and maintain backend services at the core of Smartly.io’s campaign optimization platform, collaborating with data scientists to deploy ML models to production.

You will mentor teammates, promote testing, monitoring, and clean code practices, and help translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong Python skills and 5+ years of production software experience.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP).
• Experience with NodeJS, React, TypeScript is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) is a plus.
• Knowledge of MLOps concepts and tools (MLflow, Kubeflow) is a plus.
• Experience developing and maintaining services under SLA.
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Willingness to work 3 days a week at the Helsinki office.
• M.Sc. in a relevant field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend services at the core of Smartly.io’s campaign optimization products.
• Be a core contributor, involved in planning, retrospectives, and team improvements.
• Support data scientists in bringing ML models to production.
• Mentor the team on software practices, testing, monitoring and clean code.
• Improve software architecture, coding practices, tools and processes.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and infra to translate business needs into viable solutions.
• Develop and strengthen soft skills through knowledge sharing and collaborative work.
• Impact the daily life of advertisers using Smartly.
