Job summary

ALTEN Finland is seeking a Senior/Lead Substation Design Engineer to join our team in Tampere. You will design and develop medium-voltage substation solutions, working with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.

You will review SLDs, specs, and calculations, ensuring compliance and proactive problem-solving. The role offers a flexible hybrid model and opportunities to contribute to demanding energy infrastructure projects in international settings.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in electrical substation design.
• Experience with MV equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, busbars, reactors, capacitors).
• Ability to prepare and review engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive engineering mindset.
• Excellent communication and experience working in international project environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop medium-voltage substation solutions and equipment layouts.
• Prepare and review SLDs, technical specifications, calculations, RFQs, and engineering documentation.
• Ensure technical compliance and coordinate interfaces with suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Support design reviews, tendering activities, and project delivery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, customers, and suppliers.

In this role, you will be involved in the design and development of medium-voltage substation solutions and work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities

• Design and develop medium-voltage substation solutions and equipment layouts
• Prepare and review SLDs, technical specifications, calculations, RFQs, and engineering documentation

To succeed in this role, you have

• Strong experience in electrical substation design

• Ability to prepare and review engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to engineering
