Job summary

Academic Work Finland Oy is seeking a Java Developer to join our client in Espoo, focusing on backend services for payment processing and embedded banking. You will implement business logic, validate payment requests, enrich data and build integrations.

The role is 6-month fixed-term with potential extension, and a hybrid work model requiring 60% office presence in Espoo. Strong Java, Spring and database experience are expected.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of professional experience in Java software development.
• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot and microservices.
• Experience working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL and Db2.
• Experience developing distributed, highly available and high-throughput applications.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot.
• Full working proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Developing backend services related to payment processing and embedded banking.
• Implementing business logic, rules and payment request validation.
• Enriching and storing payment-related data in databases.
• Developing and maintaining integrations with other systems.
• Building new services and functionality within an existing environment.
• Ensuring the reliability, scalability and performance of the developed services.
