Job summary

Distance Technologies is seeking a (Senior) FPGA Engineer to own the FPGA logic behind our realtime image processing for head-mounted AR and defence/automotive applications. You will work with board designers and embedded software teams to translate specs into hardware, build testbenches, and ensure timing closure within strict FPGA constraints.

The role is based at our Helsinki HQ with heavy onsite work and English as the team language.

Qualifications

• HDL experience with SystemVerilog or VHDL.
• Experience with major vendor toolchains (Lattice/Vivado/Quartus).
• Strong knowledge of high-speed interfaces (MIPI, PCIe, Ethernet, DDR).
• Experience debugging hardware bring-up and lab work.
• Fluency in English; Finnish not required.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Coding: Translate system-level specifications into parallel hardware logic using SystemVerilog or VHDL.
• Simulation & Verification: Create testbenches that simulate design behaviour and catch bugs before hardware is deployed.
• Timing Closure & Optimisation: Manage clock domains and optimise latency to meet FPGA constraints.
• Hardware Bring-Up & Lab Work: Integrate FPGA onto PCB with oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
