Job summary

Distance Technologies, based at our Helsinki HQ, seeks a (Senior) FPGA Engineer to build realtime image-processing hardware for our displays. You’ll own FPGA logic behind real-time processing for the Field Operator HUD, shaping sensor data into a usable lightfield with tight latency budgets.

Key tasks include translating specs to parallel hardware, building testbenches, and ensuring timing closure across FPGA architectures while collaborating with board designers and embedded software teams.

Qualifications

• Proficient in SystemVerilog or VHDL, with scripting in Python or Tcl.
• Experience with major vendor toolchains: Lattice Diamond/Radiant, Vivado or Quartus.
• Strong knowledge of digital logic, state machines, pipelining, and high-speed interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Translate system-level specifications into parallel hardware logic using HDLs.
• Create testbenches to simulate design behaviour and catch bugs before hardware.
• Manage clock domains, optimise latency, and ensure timing closure for FPGA.
• Collaborate with board designers and embedded software teams during bring-up.
