Job summary

ASM in Helsinki, Finland, is seeking a Senior Engineer, Process Engineering to advance atomic layer deposition (ALD) and related thin film processes. You will translate ideas into integrated process flows, collaborating with chemistry, materials science and process engineering teams to deliver innovative semiconductor solutions.

You will design experiments, analyze complex data, and work hands-on with cutting-edge equipment to optimize processes for maximum efficiency and value for customers.

Qualifications

  • PhD in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science, preferably with a semiconductor-related thesis.
  • Experience with thin film deposition techniques (ALD, CVD) and characterization methods (XPS, AFM, XRD, XRF, electrical characterization, ellipsometry).
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor physics, processing equipment technology, and advanced chemistries.
  • Curiosity and ability to translate complex problems into pragmatic solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate and develop new thin film processes and applications for logic, memory, analog and power.
  • Design and conduct experiments, measurements and draw conclusions from complex data sets.
  • Work hands-on with state-of-the-art semiconductor process equipment and optimize processes with hardware for maximum efficiency.
  • Communicate with ASM and customer R&D teams to define requirements and drive project demonstrations.
  • Enable successful product transfers to customers through demonstrations, knowledge transfer, and supporting other ASM sites.

  • Ensure successful product transfers to customers by performing demonstrations, knowledge transfer, and traveling when needed to support other ASM sites

  • A PhD degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science, preferably with a thesis related to the semiconductor (or adjacentindustries)
  • Prior experience with thin film deposition techniques (e.g., ALD, CVD) and their characterization methods (e.g., XPS, AFM, XRD, XRF, electrical characterization and ellipsometry)
  • Demonstrated understanding of semiconductor physics, processing equipment technology, and/or advanced chemistries
  • A curious mindset, able to synthesize the complex and drive pragmatic solutions forward
  • Ability to plan, execute and communicate projects from beginning to end and across stakeholders
