Job summary

General Motors seeks a Staff Software Developer for the Diagnostics Infrastructure Software team within the Autonomous Vehicle Integrity Platform. The role focuses on architecting diagnostic software applications and libraries, interfaces, and enabling high-quality solutions across GM’s vehicle diagnostics network.

The candidate will lead architecture efforts, collaborate across cross-functional teams, and mentor others, with occasional travel to the US and hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven expertise in C++ and Python.
• Minimum 8 years in software design and development, with emphasis on diagnostic software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the diagnostic infrastructure software architecture development related to UDS and DTC Management.
• Own the diagnostic infrastructure software application and library strategy for in-house diagnostics.
• Create and manage architecture diagrams and technical execution plans.
• Deliver diagnostic software solutions meeting GM requirements with rigorous testing and reviews.
• Review Engineering Change Requests impacting GM Autonomous Vehicle Platform diagnostics globally.
• Communicate technical issues and decisions to management.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and service diagnostic teams for new vehicle architectures (SDV).
• Work with Cybersecurity, Programming, Serial Data Communication, and other Platform teams on UDS integration issues.
• Assist in resolving production diagnostic problems by reviewing vehicle logs and data.
• Mentor and guide fellow developers; participate in hiring and interviews.
• Represent the team in automotive industry groups (ISO, SAE); travel 1–2 weeks per year.
