Job summary

Wolt is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own production systems, primarily using Go or Kotlin, and to take end-to-end ownership of backend initiatives for inventory, purchasing, and fulfillment.

You will collaborate with product, data science, and operations, shaping architecture and ensuring reliability and scalability. This role is based in Helsinki or Stockholm with distributed teams and limited remote work.

Qualifications

• Proficient backend design, build, and operations of production services.
• Experience with Go or Kotlin and end-to-end ownership of services.
• Familiarity with data-heavy systems and observability concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend systems supporting inventory, purchasing, warehouse ops, pricing, and fulfillment.
• Own technical solutions from definition to deployment and production support.
• Collaborate with product, data science, and operations to shape direction and improve reliability.
• Influence architectural decisions balancing scalability, reliability, and velocity.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools judiciously while maintaining engineering judgment.
• Ensure observability, monitoring, and incident readiness of owned services.
