Job summary

Wolt is seeking a backend-focused engineer to design, build, and operate scalable services powering real-time, customer-facing systems, with a focus on AI-powered translation capabilities.

You will work with a global engineering org and collaborate across product, applied science, frontend, and platform teams to scale microservices in a complex domain using Python or Go, AWS, Kubernetes, and DataDog observability.

Qualifications

• Backend development using Python or Go.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or similar).
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Observability tools such as DataDog.
• Designing, building, and integrating quality software (microservices) at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services powering real-time, customer-facing systems.
• Develop and evolve AI-powered translation capabilities using LLMs in production.
• Build tooling and infrastructure to evaluate models across quality, latency, and cost.
• Collaborate with product, applied science, frontend, and platform teams to solve complex support problems.
• Own technical decisions and shape system architecture and future direction.
• Improve performance, reliability, and operational readiness of services with real production traffic.
• Leverage AI tools to improve development workflows.
