Job summary

OiTec Oy, a Finnish engineering company, is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer for our Oulu automation team. You will develop PLC software, program industrial robots, and integrate machines and production systems to deliver reliable automation solutions.

You will collaborate with electrical, software and mechanical engineers to test, commission, and improve modular automation software and practices. On-site work with occasional flexibility.

Qualifications

• Experience in PLC programming with Beckhoff TwinCAT.
• Robotics programming and integration experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot machine operation.
• Strong English communication; Finnish is a plus.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join our Automation Engineering team in Oulu

At OiTec, we build production testing and automation systems that bring software, electronics and mechanics together. In this role, you will focus on PLC programming, industrial robot programming, mechatronic systems and the integration of machines, devices and production systems.

You will work closely with our automation, software, electrical and mechanical engineering specialists to turn customer requirements into reliable automation solutions. Your work will cover software development, system integration, testing and commissioning, including connecting equipment to production and quality systems.

Alongside project work, you will help develop modular and reusable automation software and improve our engineering practices.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Develop PLC software, machine and motion control using Beckhoff TwinCAT
• Program and integrate industrial robots, sensors, actuators and test equipment
• Carry out system integration, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning
• Implement and test machine safety functions together with the project’s engineering specialists
• Contribute to machine vision applications in collaboration with other specialists
• Develop modular, reusable automation software and contribute to shared architectures and engineering practices

What Makes You a Great Fit:

• Strong hands-on experience in PLC programming, particularly Beckhoff TwinCAT
• Experience in industrial robot programming and integration, motion control and industrial communication interfaces
• Experience in system integration and commissioning, with the ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot machine operation
• Understanding of machine safety principles and a structured approach to maintainable software
• Independent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with customers and colleagues across engineering disciplines
• Good communication skills in English. Finnish is an advantage

Additional Experience We Value

Machine vision, Beckhoff TwinSAFE, measurement and test equipment, production data collection or MES and database integration. Experience in C#/.NET or Python is also an advantage
