Rightware, a leading provider of high-performance UI design tools, is expanding its finance team in Helsinki. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to own Finnish statutory accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting, liaising with auditors and tax authorities.

The role offers remote/hybrid work from Finland and direct collaboration with the Finance Director and global finance function. You will drive improvements in accounting processes and support cross-functional projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, Finnish statutory accounting preferred.
• Fluent in Finnish and English, written and spoken.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with Netvisor or M2.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Helsinki. In this role, you will take ownership of Rightware's local statutory accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting activities in Finland. Our finance team is entering a new chapter, and this role will play an important part in it. You'll be the go-to local finance professional for Finnish statutory matters - working closely with external partners such as auditors and tax authorities and supporting our group finance function.

What You Will Do

Statutory Accounting & Reporting

• Manage the full cycle of Finnish statutory accounting, including monthly, from monthly and quarterly to annual closings
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and other statutory reports
• Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with Finnish Accounting Standards

(FAS)

• Keep reporting accurate and on schedule (monthly closing by 4th working day, year-end by 7-10th working day)

Tax Compliance

• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns
• Manage corporate income tax filings and preliminary tax calculations
• Handle withholding tax (WHT) certificate management and documentation
• Stay ahead of Finnish tax regulations and any legislative changes
• Liaise with tax authorities as needed
• Coordinate with external auditors and prepare audit materials
• Support the annual audit process from start to timely finish

Process & System Development

• Continuously improve and document our accounting processes and procedures
• Get involved in cross-functional projects such as system rollouts and process changes

What We Are Looking For

Must-have skills:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a Finnish company or with Finnish statutory accounting
• Solid knowledge of Finnish Accounting Standards and tax legislation (VAT, corporate tax, WHT)
• Hands-on experience preparing financial statements and tax filings in Finland
• Fluency in both Finnish and English, written and spoken - both are essential for working with local authorities and our international team
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems (Netvisor, M2 or similar)
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of in a small team environment

Nice-to-have skills:

• Experience in a multinational or group environment
• Knowledge of IFRS
• A track record of process improvement and automation
• Experience working alongside external auditors
