Job description

Safari Guide, Lapland Safaris

Lapland Staff is looking for Safari Guides for various locations of Lapland Safaris for the winter season 2026-2027. We are looking for Safari Guides to work in Luosto, Levi, Rovaniemi, Saariselkä, Ylläs and Olos.

As a Safari Guide, you get to introduce our international guests to the magnificent nature of Finnish Lapland and guide them through adventure activities. You may act as a guide, for example, on a snowshoe safari at the top of a fell, take the guests on a visit to a reindeer farm and a husky kennel, or snowmobile into the snowy forest to see the Northern Lights. You may also guide various bus tours in some destinations. Your work tools can be snowmobiles, ice fishing gear, e-fatbikes, skis and snowshoes. As a guide, your workdays consist of preparing for the safari programs, meeting the guests before the safaris, as well as taking care of the clothing of your guests. You will help them dress up properly before each safari and after the activity you will take care of the clothes that you provided such as overalls, socks, boots and gloves. One of the most essential parts of the job is to help dress our guests with winter clothes, and all our safari guides work as part of our equipment team. After the safaris, cleaning and maintaining the equipment used on safaris is an important part of a safari guide’s daily routine as well. Whatever you do, every day you get to see the excitement on your guests’ faces as they prepare for new and unique experiences!

We are looking for people who enjoy being outdoors regardless of the weather and to maintain a positive attitude even on long and busy days. Your workdays are rarely the same, and a working day can consist of one or several different tasks, and a lot of work is also done in the evening. Changes to your daily tasks may come with short notice. In addition to outdoor work, variation to your days comes from indoor clothing maintenance work. Work tasks and guest groups vary a little between destinations. The guides we are looking for are versatile and multitalented, with an open attitude towards different work tasks. In all our destinations, knowledge of French language is considered an advantage. We train our employees in first aid skills, but we value previously acquired first aid skills as well. At least a class B driver’s license is an essential requirement for the job. BE driver’s license and experience of driving a 9-seater vehicle in snowy conditions are considered advantageous, as well as knowledge of the area. In addition, EU-citizenship/passport or valid working permit to Finland is required. In Luosto, the safari guides may act as elf guides during the Christmas season.

We expect from you
  • Positive attitude and excellent cooperation and interaction skills;
  • Customer service-focused and group management skills;
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure;
  • Passion for outdoors and interest in Finnish Lapland’s nature, culture and history;
  • Fluent English with knowledge of French, German, Italian or Spanish considered an advantage.

English fluency, Experience with outdoor guiding is preferred, First aid training is a plus

We offer you
  • Fun working days and a supportive team;
  • The opportunity to learn about the nature of the north;
  • Numerous leisure opportunities enjoying the real winter;
  • Comprehensive staff benefits of Lapland Hotels & Lapland Safaris.
  • You will receive benefits such as equipment rental, restaurants and Lapland Ski Resorts' lift tickets.
  • Lapland Safaris provides for new employees a paid Arctic Guide course at the beginning of their employment.
  • Accommodation is organized in shared rooms at a reasonable rent.

The employment relationship is a fixed-term seasonal contract by the Collective Agreement in the Adventure Services sector. Work starts in November 2026 and lasts until the end of March 2027; in Rovaniemi some positions end mid-January 2027. Salary according to the Collective Agreement of Adventure Services grade A-C, minimum hourly wage between 10.80-13.60 € (gross). Work is also on weekends and public holidays. Sundays and Finnish bank holidays are paid double. Lapland Safaris is a non-smoking workplace.
