Job summary

OP Pohjola is seeking a Risk Analyst Trainee in Helsinki to support market risk, counterparty credit risk and operational risk analysis, monitoring and reporting. You will work with economic capital metrics and regulatory capital, gaining exposure to risk measurement in a leading financial institution.

The role requires strong quantitative and programming skills, and you may be a recent graduate or in the final stages of university studies.

We are strengthening our Markets Risk Management unit with a Risk Analyst Trainee in Helsinki!

As a Risk Analyst Trainee, you will support the analysis, monitoring and reporting of market risk, counterparty credit risk and operational risk related to Markets and Banking Investments activities. You will also work with economic capital and regulatory capital metrics, gaining a broad view of how risk is measured and managed in a leading financial institution.

You will work closely with colleagues across Risk Management and other stakeholders, share your findings with the team and contribute to continuous improvement and automation. The role offers practical exposure to market risk management, banking regulation, and the supporting data and technology.

• Relevant university studies and strong mathematical, statistical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to carry out quantitative and qualitative data analysis
• Programming skills in, for example, Python, R or SQL, together with an interest in analytical solutions and automation
• Ability and willingness to learn new systems, methodologies and tools
• A systematic, efficient and results‑oriented way of working, with strong attention to detail
• Good collaboration and communication skills and the ability to present findings clearly
• Fluent spoken and written English

Experience in cloud development or cloud–AI integration is an advantage. Knowledge of banking, insurance, wealth management or financial regulation is also considered an asset. You will join the Markets and Banking Investments Data & Models team within Markets Risk Management. Our team works at the intersection of risk, data, regulation and technology, supporting reliable risk measurement and reporting for Markets and Banking Investments activities.

You will collaborate with colleagues across Risk Management, regulatory reporting and relevant business areas. The team combines independent analytical work with active knowledge sharing, practical problem‑solving and close stakeholder cooperation. You will receive support from experienced specialists while being encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas and take ownership of meaningful tasks.
