Job summary

ABB Drive Products in Helsinki is seeking an experienced power electronics design professional to contribute to next‑generation industrial drives. This role combines architecture, hardware design, and collaboration with international teams, with a hybrid work model in Pitäjänmäki.

The successful candidate will lead projects from concept to production, apply advanced LV converter topologies, and work with SiC/GaN devices while ensuring EMI/thermal integrity in a global R&D setting.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or equivalent.
• Several years of practical experience in power electronics hardware design for industrial drives or equivalent.
• Proven track record delivering multiple product architectures from concept to mass production.

Responsibilities

• Develop architectures for next-generation industrial drives.
• Lead design from concept to mass production with a global R&D team.
• Ensure EMI/EMC and thermal integrity across LV converter topologies.
• Collaborate across international teams to advance ABB Drive Products.

Finnish language skills are a benefit.Valid working permit to Finland.PreferredCapability to lead technical work in global, multicultural R&D environments.Advanced experience in LV converter topologies (VSI, AFE, B6 bridge, multilevel), gate driver design, EMC/EMI, thermal management, and power passive design.Experience with WBG semiconductors (SiC, GaN) in industrial applications.Experience with model-based design tools (MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, PLECS, or similar).Deep familiarity with key standards, including the IEC 61800 series, CE/UL/cUL requirements, and EMC directives.Experience in patent authorship in power electronics.Familiarity with ABB Motion products.More about usABB Drive Products serves the industries and infrastructure segments with world-class drives and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
