Job summary

Winthrop Technologies Ltd. is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team on flagship data centre projects in Finland.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will manage multiple subcontract packages, handle valuations, variations and final accounts, and ensure cost control across the works with suppliers, clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent with 5+ years' main contracting experience.
• Strong understanding of MEP installations and related processes.
• Experience with measurement methods and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Procure key subcontract packages and related works with the senior project team.
• Generate quantified work packages, ITTs and budgets from technical docs; analyse tender returns.
• Prepare and agree subcontract documents.
• Commercial management of multiple subcontract packages from order to final account, payments, variation and claims.
• Monitor costs and financial entitlement on controlled packages.
• Engage with clients, subcontractors, designers and internal team.
• Submit contractually compliant commercial documentation.
• Develop, submit and agree external valuations.
• Negotiate variations and final accounts with subcontractors and clients.
• Prepare regular cost/ value and cash flow reporting.
• Resolve conflicts proactively.
• Supervise and develop junior commercial staff.

Winthrop specialises in providing turnkey data centre solutions, providing services from design, through to construction across the full range of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services as well as commissioning.

We are currently constructing multiple turnkey data centre projects in 7 different European countries, equating to over 430 MW of IT load in flight.

We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team in Finland. Reporting into the Commercial Manager.

• Work with the senior project team to procure key subcontract packages and other critical elements of the works.
• Generating quantified work packages, ITTs & budgets from technical documents. Analysis & presentation of tender returns.
• Preparation and agreement of subcontract documents.
• Commercial management of multiple subcontract packages from order through to final account, monthly payments, variation and claims management.
• Continuous monitoring of costs and financial entitlement on the packages / projects under your control.
• Active engagement with stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, designers and internal team members.
• Submission of contractually compliant commercial documentation.
• Development, submission and agreement of external valuations.
• Negotiation and agreement of variations, omissions and final accounts with subcontractors and clients in a timely and professional manner.
• Regular cost / value and cash flow reporting.
• Pro-actively work to resolve conflicts where possible.
• Supervision and development of junior members of the commercial team.

Skills / Qualifications:

• Relevant degree with 5+ years' experience in a main contracting and / or specialist contracting environment with a particular focus on mechanical and electrical works.
• Strong technical understanding of MEP installations & processes.
• Familiarity with various methods of measurement.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong business relationships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent budgeting and financial forecasting skills.
• Familiarity with Buildsoft, CostX or similar is advantageous.
• Data Centre experience is advantageous.
