Job description

At Bluefors, we're enabling breakthroughs in quantum technology and scientific research through the world's leading cryogenic measurement systems and dilution refrigerators. Our Systems & Options product family forms the foundation of many of the solutions we deliver to customers around the world, combining complex engineering, high-performance technology, and demanding customer requirements.

The Systems & Options engineering team is responsible for developing and maintaining Bluefors' largest and most complex product portfolio. The team works closely with product management, manufacturing, service, quality, and other stakeholders to bring new technologies into products while continuously improving the performance and reliability of systems already in the field.

We are looking for a Quality Engineer who is passionate about product quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. In this role, you'll work across the entire product lifecycle, helping ensure quality is built into new products from the start while driving systematic improvements across an extensive installed base. Your work will have a direct impact on customer satisfaction, product reliability, delivery performance, and long-term product quality. The position reports to the Director, Systems & Options and is part of Bluefors' Product Development organization.

We work with low hierarchy and short decision paths, and we move fast. As Bluefors continues to grow, maintaining and improving quality across increasingly sophisticated products and a growing installed base becomes ever more important. You'll play a key role in helping us achieve that goal through a structured, data-driven, and collaborative approach to quality engineering.

We offer you an interesting, challenging, and responsible position, supported by a highly skilled and growing organization. It's an excellent opportunity for professional growth in a dynamic, enthusiastic, and professional team where we work together and support each other. Our working environment is multicultural and leaves room to grow, so you can use your full potential and keep developing your skills.

Main responsibilities:
  • Own quality activities throughout the lifecycle of the Systems & Options product family

  • Define and drive quality requirements for new systems and options throughout the development process

  • Lead design-for-quality activities, including DFMEA, risk analysis, and verification planning

  • Own the quality gate for new product releases and ensure products are fully verified and validated before market introduction

  • Work closely with product leads and engineering teams to translate customer requirements into measurable quality and reliability targets

  • Develop and maintain test and verification plans in collaboration with engineering and operations teams

  • Drive systematic quality improvement across the existing Systems & Options product portfolio

  • Lead root cause investigations related to field failures, customer complaints, and early failure rate cases

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) through implementation and verified closure

  • Monitor, analyse, and communicate quality KPIs, trends, and risks across the portfolio

  • Collaborate with service, customer care, manufacturing, and engineering teams to identify and prioritise improvement opportunities

  • Support engineering change management activities to ensure fixes and improvements are deployed systematically across the installed base

  • Contribute to reducing engineering change backlog through quality-based prioritisation and data-driven decision making

What we expect from you
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or another relevant technical field

  • Experience in product quality engineering within a hardware development environment

  • Experience working with both new product introduction and quality improvement of existing products

  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with structured quality methodologies such as 8D, DFMEA, or fault tree analysis

  • Good understanding of verification, validation, and test planning for complex technical products

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment involving engineering, manufacturing, and service teams

  • Experience with quality management systems and engineering change processes

  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English

We also appreciate
  • Experience with cryogenic systems, mechanical systems, scientific instrumentation, or other complex hardware products

  • Understanding of reliability engineering and field quality improvement in technical product environments

  • Experience working with installed base quality management and field corrective actions

  • A structured, analytical, and detail-oriented approach to problem solving

  • The ability to communicate quality findings and data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • A proactive mindset and drive to identify issues early and turn insights into actions

  • The ability to work independently while building strong collaboration across teams

  • A passion for continuously improving products, processes, and ways of working
