Specim, a leading hyperspectral imaging solutions provider, is expanding its Sourcing team in Oulu. The Purchasing Manager will organize and implement sourcing operations aligned with company strategy and drive supplier relations to ensure cost, quality, and lead time targets.

To strengthen our Sourcing team, we’re looking for aPurchasing Manager to join Specim Supply Chain Function in Oulu.

Purchasing Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, and implementing of sourcing operations based on company strategies.

In addition of supporting and executing of operational purchasing, Purchasing Manager’s responsibilities are proactive strategic purchasing activities such as planning, organizing, and prioritizing of purchasing operations ;material flow management and optimization ;maintain and development of key supplier relationships ;ensure product and material availability within targeted cost, quality and lead time ;and selection and evaluation of new suppliers.

Purchasing Manager has active role in value creation, not only to reduce costs but to consider suppliers cooperation in terms of improve the quality of products, the availability of components and materials, and to enhance company’s production and R&D.

Identification and evaluation of risks related to suppliers, component availability and quality of purchased products is one of the Purchase Manager’s responsibilities too.

Purchasing Manager’s daily tasks consist of:

• Planning and execution of operational sourcing activities.
• Defining and implementing policies and procedures for sourcing and supplier cooperation.
• Overall management of purchasing activities and supplier cooperation (negotiation of terms and prices, solving problems, evaluating suppliers, ensuring long- and short-term availability of components and materials etc.).
• Maintaining the supplier database, measure and report purchasing and supplier performance.
• Evaluate risks related to purchases and develop strategies to reduce risks and impact.
• Ensure and follow-up the quality of purchased components and materials.
• Daily communication and follow-up with various internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
• Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets.
• Developing sourcing processes and tools.

Competencies and skills:

• Purchasing Manager works independently in hectic working environment. Working in this role requires dynamic and efficient working style and ability to cope with stress.
• Purchasing Manager needs to be good decision-maker and have excellent negotiation and organizational skills to secure purchases at the best prices and terms.
• The work includes a lot of interaction and co-operation with different people, thus good teamwork skills are essential.
• Understanding of product structures, ability to read technical drawings and understanding of manufacturing process are also beneficial skills in this role.
• A positive self-driven attitude, initiative, flexibility, interest in continuous learning and good interpersonal skills are important qualities in this job.

Requirements:

• Relevant degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technology, Engineering or Business Administration)
• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both Finnish and English
• Good IT skills (MS Office) and some ERP knowledge
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Sourcing and Procurement area.
• Includes 10 - 30 days of travelling per year
