Job summary

Emerging Scholars Council invites applications for a Doctoral Researcher position (4 years) under the MSCA DP-FOBI at the University of Eastern Finland. The selected researcher will develop multisource-data methods for canopy composition and habitat mapping in boreal forests, using drone, airborne and satellite data, near Joensuu.

Begin by 1 April 2027 with an August 10, 2026 deadline. The role includes extensive training, secondments, and collaboration with Digital Geosciences/School of Forest

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Meet mobility rule: MSCA mobility requirement.
• Strong interest in forests, biodiversity and remote sensing.
• Solid programming skills in R or Python.

Responsibilities

• Conduct dissertation research within DP-FOBI.
• Prepare an individual study plan and career development plan.
• Attend DP-FOBI training, workshops and exchanges.
• Disseminate findings and engage in collaboration with supervisors and partners.
