Job summary

Bluewater Power Distribution Corporation is seeking a Payroll and Compensation professional for an 18-month leave coverage, transitioning to a permanent Accountant role in Finance. The role manages biweekly payroll, benefits, pensions, and year-end processes, with a path to broader accounting responsibilities.

The position requires IFRS knowledge, CPA designation, and strong Excel/SAP skills, supporting regulatory reporting and audits while providing backup to HR and Finance teams.

Qualifications

• University Degree and/or College Diploma in Accounting or Finance from an accredited educational institution required.
• CPA designation required.
• Five (5) years of related accounting experience; utility accounting experience is an asset.
• Working knowledge of IFRS.
• Hands-on experience with financial statements and general ledgers; prior audit prep is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; SAP experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll processing for hourly and salaried staff, including data validation and complex calculations.
• Administer benefit, pension and retirement programs; manage enrollments, changes, and annuitant coverage.
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and support month-end reporting; ensure accurate remittances and year-end filings.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and maintain the General Ledger in SAP; support audit process.
• Develop and monitor the annual budget; perform variance analysis and reporting for management and board.
