Turku City’s Lifestyle & Wellness Unit seeks a fixed-term Fitness Services Manager to lead the development and planning of activities and communications for working-age adults and older people across Turku. The role aims to activate residents to move more and improve well-being through physical activity.
You will work in collaboration with other adult sports team members, applying knowledge of movement behavior and barriers to movement to build inclusive programs.
We are seeking a fixed-term Fitness Services Manager for a period from 14 September 2026 (or by agreement) to 30 April 2027. The Sports Services unit aims to activate Turku residents to move more and improve their well-being through physical activity. Turku City’s sports services provide various physical activity facilities and services to all Turku residents, including individual citizens and associations organizing sports. There are two result units within Sports Services: the Sports Facilities Unit and the Lifestyle & Wellness Unit. The Fitness Services Manager works in the Lifestyle & Wellness Unit, whose purpose is to promote the physical activity lifestyle of all residents across the Turku area. The role seeks to influence movement behavior and overall well-being; the target groups are working-age adults and older people, and the duties include development and planning of activities and communications for these groups in collaboration with other responsible persons in the adult sports team.
Eligibility requires a suitable polytechnic degree or an equivalent earlier vocational college degree, with sufficient familiarity in development tasks within the sport and physical activity sector. Successful performance of the role requires expertise, experience, and understanding of adult target groups’ movement behavior, barriers to movement, and opportunities for movement (conditions, sports clubs, private sector). Additionally, ability to acquire and process national information related to adult target groups and to implement written and oral communications activating the target group. An advantageous factor is familiarity with municipal administration and the adult sports field, plus communication skills and familiarity with the sports sector.
