Job summary

Vaisala, a global leader in measurement instruments, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join the Industrial Measurements Products and Technologies team at Vaisala HQ in Vantaa, Finland. You will maintain and develop mechanics for a broad product portfolio, collaborating with production, product area teams, service, and field support.

The role involves problem-solving end to end, from analysis to implementing changes, with exposure to long-lifecycle products and regulatory considerations.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3-5+ years of mechanical design experience for industrial/electronics-based products.
• Strong 3D CAD skills, preferably SolidWorks, plus technical drawing and PDM/PLM knowledge.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, tolerances, sealing solutions and IP classifications.
• Experience with controlled product change management, including documentation and production transitions.
• Ability to assess retesting, requalification and certification needs.
• Fluency in English; Finnish is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the mechanics of existing products.
• Handle multiple maintenance tasks with changing priorities.
• Find solutions to product issues, failures and improvement needs.
• Drive material and manufacturing improvements and implement changes through the ECR/ECO process.

What's your role?

You will be part of our Product and Technologies team of 15 professionals. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and further development of Industrial Measurements products across a broad and technically diverse product portfolio. In this role you will be working in close co-operation with production, product area teams, service and field support, product managers and other key stakeholders.

Your responsibilities include:

• Maintaining and developing the mechanics of existing products
• Working in multiple maintenance tasks where priorities may change rapidly
• Finding solutions to product issues, failures, and improvement needs
• Driving material and manufacturing improvementsImplementing changes through the ECR/ECO process
• Coordinating requalification and certification updates required by product changes

What will you bring?

• A degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 3-5+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial or electronics-based products
• Strong 3D CAD preferably Solid Works, technical drawing, and PDM/PLM skills
• Understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, tolerances, sealing solutions, and IP classifications
• Experience in controlled product change management, including documentation and production transitions
• Ability to assess retesting, requalification and certification needs
• Good collaboration skills with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders
• Fluency in English, Finnish seen as an advantage
