Job summary

Vaisala, a global leader in measurement instruments, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Industrial Measurements Products and Technologies team at Vaisala headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. You will maintain and enhance the mechanics of existing products, coordinating changes and improvements in close collaboration with production, product area teams, service and field support.

The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent) and 3-5+ years of design experience for

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 3-5+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial or electronics-based products.
• Strong 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks, technical drawing, and PDM/PLM skills.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, tolerances, sealing solutions, and IP classifications.
• Experience in controlled product change management, including documentation and production transitions.
• Ability to assess retesting, requalification and certification needs.
• Good collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; Finnish is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and developing the mechanics of existing products.
• Working in multiple maintenance tasks where priorities may change rapidly.
• Finding solutions to product issues, failures, and improvement needs.
• Driving material and manufacturing improvements; implementing changes through the ECR/ECO process.
• Coordinating requalification and certification updates required by product changes.
