Job summary

DECI Ltd in Helsinki leads major data centre and mission-critical projects across Europe. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to own mechanical commissioning activities on site, lead teams and collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

You will oversee pre-commissioning through functional and integrated testing, drive progress reporting, and ensure safe handover of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water and BMS.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in mechanical commissioning for mission-critical facilities.
• Experience in lead/senior or commissioning management roles.
• Strong knowledge of data centre mechanical systems including cooling and HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical commissioning across large data centre projects.
• Develop and execute commissioning plans, programmes and procedures.
• Oversee HVAC, chilled water, cooling, ventilation and BMS commissioning.
• Coordinate commissioning engineers, contractors, vendors and suppliers.
• Review documents, test scripts and technical submissions.
• Lead inspections, testing and integrated systems testing.
• Track progress, defects and punch lists through to close-out.
• Identify issues and drive timely resolutions with stakeholders.
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, construction, QA/QC and PM teams.
• Attend meetings and provide clear progress reporting.
• Ensure safety and compliance with project specs and standards.
• Support system turnover, client demonstrations and handover.

Job description

DECI is an engineering and project delivery company supporting major data centre and mission-critical projects across Europe, the USA and globally.

As our presence across the Nordic region continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to join our team and support the delivery of large-scale data centre projects.

This is a senior site-based position for an experienced commissioning professional who can take ownership of mechanical commissioning activities, lead teams and work closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project stakeholders.

The Role

The Mechanical Commissioning Lead will be responsible for leading and coordinating mechanical commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through functional testing, integrated systems testing and final handover.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the mechanical commissioning scope across large-scale data centre projects.
• Develop, manage and execute commissioning plans, programmes and procedures.
• Oversee commissioning of HVAC, chilled water, cooling, ventilation, BMS and associated mechanical systems.
• Manage and coordinate mechanical commissioning engineers, contractors, vendors and specialist suppliers.
• Review commissioning documentation, method statements, test scripts and technical submissions.
• Lead inspections, functional performance testing and integrated systems testing.
• Track commissioning progress, outstanding works, defects and punch-list items through to close-out.
• Identify technical issues and drive timely resolution with the relevant project stakeholders.
• Coordinate closely with electrical, controls, construction, QA/QC and project management teams.
• Attend commissioning, coordination and client meetings and provide clear progress reporting.
• Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely and in accordance with project specifications, programme requirements and industry standards.
• Support system turnover, client demonstrations, final documentation and project handover.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

• Strong mechanical commissioning experience within mission-critical environments.
• Previous experience in a Lead, Senior or Commissioning Management capacity.
• Strong technical knowledge of data centre mechanical systems, including cooling and HVAC infrastructure.
• Experience managing commissioning activities through the various stages of testing and handover.
• Strong understanding of commissioning documentation, testing procedures and integrated systems testing.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary contractors, vendors and project teams.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, site-based project environment.
• Existing right to work in Europe.

Candidates without previous data centre experience or the right to work in Europe will not be considered for this position.
