Job summary

UPM-Kymmene Oyj Global Functions seeks an IT Architect specialized in cloud and database technologies. You will help transform UPM’s on-premises databases toward public cloud and autonomous services, balancing security, scalability, and cost across global applications.

You will collaborate with the Hybrid Cloud Computing team to shape roadmaps, oversee architecture reviews, and guide stakeholders through technology decisions.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server) and their role in critical applications.
• Solid knowledge of public cloud concepts, cloud migration approaches, and cloud-native design principles.
• Experience or interest in autonomous database services and managed database platforms.
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical architecture options and roadmaps.
• Familiarity with project management and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Take architectural responsibility for cloud and database solutions and related applications, security, performance, and lifecycle considerations.
• Support the transformation of on-premises database environments toward public cloud and autonomous database services.
• Contribute to cloud migration planning, database modernization, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making with application teams and suppliers.
• Collaborate with the Hybrid Cloud Computing Chief Architect to support roadmap development and long-term technology direction.
• Act as a key stakeholder for IT Service Owners and Product Owners in BUILD, focusing on database and cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Align business roadmaps with database and cloud technology roadmaps, including capacity, lifecycle, security, and cost considerations.
• Identify opportunities to modernize database services through cloud-native capabilities and managed services.
• Provide consultancy for IT Service Owners and Business Services to support database, cloud infrastructure, and migration needs.
