Job description

We are looking for a passionate Lead Developer for cross-functional tech team

If's Digital Services unit is responsible for delivering world-class digital experiences for our customers across the Nordic region. We are a development hub within our Digital Channel Solutions organisation, where modern technologies, smart design and user experience are key drivers. We continue to expand our team with motivated and talented individuals.

About the role

As a Lead Developer, you will be the technical cornerstone of the team, combining hands‑on software development with technical leadership and solution ownership. You will help shape technical direction, support the team in solving complex challenges, and ensure that solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives.

You will work closely with developers, architects, product stakeholders, and other IT teams to analyze upcoming initiatives, refine requirements, and deliver high-quality solutions. In addition to contributing directly to development, you will play an important role in maintaining development environments, supporting deployments, monitoring production systems, and driving continuous improvements in both technology and ways of working.

Working in an agile environment, you will contribute to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and technical decision‑making while helping the team maintain a high engineering standard. You will act as a trusted technical advisor for both business and IT stakeholders, ensuring that technical solutions effectively support customer and business needs.

Using modern development practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-based technologies, you will work closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver new capabilities and continuous improvements for digital services used by almost 4 million customers across the Nordic region. This is a role where technical decisions have a direct impact on customer experience, operational reliability, and business success.

We offer
  • An including work environment where everyone is welcome
  • Career and development opportunities in the biggest insurance company in the Nordics
  • Social activities, as well as highly skilled professional environment
  • Possibility of hybrid workplace
  • Health promoting workplace with e.g. wellness allowance and various sports activities
  • Great insurance benefits
  • Lunch benefit
About the team

The Self-Service & Support team provides Nordic customers with a modern and intuitive experience for managing their insurances, claims, and payments. Through our customer‑focused development of MyPages, we continuously improve the service and introduce new self‑service capabilities. The team culture is relaxed and supportive, but also ambitious and driven. We work closely with both business and IT colleagues across Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Latvia. You will be part of a cross‑functional, highly collaborative Scrum team.

Who are you?

You are an experienced software developer who enjoys combining hands‑on development with technical leadership responsibilities. You are comfortable acting as the primary technical contact within a development team and helping others navigate technical challenges. During your career you have gained experience working in agile environments and actively contribute to refinement, estimation, and planning activities. For you it is natural that you proactively identify opportunities for technical and process improvements and help turn ideas into practical outcomes. You naturally collaborate with developers, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders, communicating clearly about technical decisions and trade‑offs. You take ownership of technical quality and promote engineering best practices, including automated testing, code quality, and maintainability. In addition you enjoy mentoring and supporting colleagues, contributing to a positive and professional team culture.

You also have
  • A strong understanding of modern software development practices, architectures, tools, and technologies
  • Understanding of how technical solutions support business processes and can effectively translate business needs into technical implementations
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployments, development environments, and operational support
  • Experience monitoring production systems, investigating issues, and driving resolutions when needed
  • Strong English skills; knowledge of a Nordic language is considered an advantage
