Job summary

Nordea in Helsinki is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the High Risk Change and Development team. You will own end-to-end integration projects from requirement through design, development, testing and release readiness, delivering robust solutions for debt management and related processes.

You will collaborate with global counterparts, apply Java 21+ and Python expertise, work with SQL, Docker and Kubernetes, and contribute to a modern, BizDevOps environment that values quality,

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, information technology, data engineering or relevant technical field.
• At least 5 years of enterprise-level Java 21+ and/or Python programming experience.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and API services.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the High Risk Change and Development team to take ownership of building integrations, from requirement to implementation and integration. You have excellent experience with Java, Python and find your way around SQL code as well. You are interested in designing and developing solutions that are robust and are curious to learn and share.

About Our Team

Meet the High Risk Change & Development team. Our role is to deliver modern solutions for debt management and debt collection business processes. Our team develops and maintains the solutions for these processes, operating in a BizDevOps environment. We are developing Nordic solutions enabling the Nordic scale strategic direction.

This role is based in Helsinki, Finland.

Main responsibilities in this role

• End-to-end ownership of the work from requirement to design, from development to test and release readiness
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in and outside of the team and to design and build efficient integration solutions
• Design and build robust integration patterns into and downstream from vendor solutions

Who You Are

This is the right role for you if you are an experienced engineer with a passion for solving real business problems through technology. You have an excellent understanding of integration patterns, and you combine solid technical skills with curiosity, ownership, and the ability to work independently on complex topics.

Your background and skills include:

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, information technology, data engineering or relevant technical field
• Strong technical skills with at least 5 years of experience in Java 21+ and/or Python programming on an enterprise level
• Hands-on experience with SQL and API services
• Experience of packing and deploying containerized applications, for example Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience in designing and developing maintainable production-grade systems
• Interest in working in a cross-functional team with focus on quality and an improvement mindset.
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experience
• A growth mindset and willingness to learn

It would be ideal if you also:

• Have experience with integrations to/from COTS solutions
• Experience with messaging protocols such as Kafka and integrations using UC4 or Airflow
