Job summary

Thor Dynamics in Helsinki seeks an Optical Technician to assemble, align, and test optical components used in directed energy systems. You will ensure precision and performance of laser-based counter-drone technologies and support a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced research environment.

The ideal candidate holds at least an associate degree in optics or related field, with 2+ years of hands-on optical experience and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in optics, photonics, physics, or related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with optical systems.
• Proficiency with optical alignment tools and interferometers.
• Strong understanding of optical principles and laser systems.
• English fluency; Finnish is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, and calibrate optical components and systems.
• Perform precision measurements and tests to verify performance.
• Maintain and troubleshoot optical equipment for optimal function.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop and refine optics.
• Document assembly procedures, test results, and maintenance.
• Handle delicate optics following cleanroom and safety protocols.
• Assist in setup and operation of Helsinki test facility.
