Job summary

Hungry Hub Kuopio is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations across the restaurant. Responsibilities include washing, cutting, preparing and portioning ingredients, and helping with burgers, fried chicken, wings, fries, wraps and salads according to recipes.

Experience in kitchen work is advantageous; training will be provided. Applicants should be reliable, able to work evenings and weekends, and comfort with English.

Qualifications

  • Experience or education in agriculture, food production, raw-material handling, warehouse operations, inventory control, restaurant work or a commercial kitchen is considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, cut, prepare and portion ingredients
  • Assist with the preparation of burgers, fried chicken, wings, fries, wraps and salads according to restaurant recipes
  • Receive deliveries and check product quantities, freshness, temperatures and quality
  • Organise food storage using date labels and FIFO stock-rotation
  • Conduct opening and closing inventory counts
  • Record food waste, damaged products and stock differences
  • Follow food-hygiene, allergen and workplace-safety procedures
  • Clean kitchen equipment, work surfaces and storage areas
  • Wash dishes and kitchen utensils
  • Pack takeaway and delivery-platform orders accurately
  • Support other kitchen and restaurant duties when required

Job description

Hungry Hub Kuopio is looking for a reliable and motivated Kitchen Assistant to support the restaurants daily kitchen operations.

Main duties include:

  • – Washing, cutting, preparing and portioning ingredients
  • – Assisting with the preparation of burgers, fried chicken, wings, fries, wraps and salads according to restaurant recipes
  • – Receiving deliveries and checking product quantities, freshness, temperatures and quality
  • – Organising food storage using date labels and the FIFO stock-rotation method
  • – Conducting opening and closing inventory counts
  • – Recording food waste, damaged products, remakes and stock differences
  • – Following food-hygiene, allergen and workplace-safety procedures
  • – Cleaning kitchen equipment, work surfaces and storage areas
  • – Washing dishes and kitchen utensils
  • – Packing takeaway and delivery-platform orders accurately
  • – Supporting other kitchen and restaurant duties when required

Experience or education in agriculture, food production, raw-material handling, warehouse operations, inventory control, restaurant work or a commercial kitchen is considered an advantage. Agricultural experience can provide useful knowledge of product quality, hygienic handling, safe storage, stock rotation, traceability and waste reduction.

Previous commercial-kitchen experience is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided in the restaurants recipes, equipment and working procedures.

The applicant must be reliable, physically capable of kitchen work, able to follow instructions and available for evening and weekend shifts.

Fluent spoken English is required because workplace training, recipes, food-safety instructions and delivery-platform orders are handled in English. Finnish language skills are recommended and are particularly useful for customer service. Bangla language skills are considered an advantage for communication with some members of the kitchen team, but they are not mandatory.

A Finnish Hygiene Passport is an advantage. The selected employee must obtain one within the legally required period if it is required for the assigned duties.

Salary and other employment conditions will comply with the applicable Finnish collective agreement. Employment can begin only after the selected applicant has a valid right to work in Finland.
