Job summary

Compass Lexecon is seeking junior economists for internship roles in Helsinki. You will gain hands-on experience on high-profile competition cases before the European Commission, the General Court, and national authorities, working with senior staff to connect economic theory with empirical evidence.

Interns join for 3 to 6 months, with start dates flexible; the role involves data analysis in Excel and Stata, literature review, drafting reports, and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking or recently completed Bachelor’s (final year only), Master’s, or Ph.D. in economics from a leading university, ideally with focus on microeconomics, and econometrics.
• Highly analytical

• Stata and Excel skills desirable
• Fluency in English and Finnish or a Scandinavian language

About the role

We pride ourselves on providing Interns with an opportunity to make a significant impact from day one. As an Intern you will gain extensive hands‑on experience of working at an economic consultancy. You will contribute to cases in a variety of ways, working closely with senior staff to understand the issues that face the client, relating those issues to relevant economic theory, and supporting the analysis with solid and persuasive empirical evidence. Interns typically join us for 3 to 6 months during, in‑between, or shortly after completing their economics degree(s). Please indicate in your cover letter when you would be available to start your internship. For those applying whilst completing their Bachelor's degree, please note that our Intern candidates are usually hired in their final year. We would consider only exceptional second‑year students. What does our interview process look like?

Our interview process for Interns includes one 60‑minute interview with both motivational and technical questions. All interviews are currently being conducted virtually.
