Job summary

Compass Lexecon is seeking junior economists for internship roles in Helsinki. You will gain hands-on experience on high-profile competition cases before the European Commission, the General Court, and national authorities, working with senior staff to connect economic theory with empirical evidence.

Interns join for 3 to 6 months, with start dates flexible; the role involves data analysis in Excel and Stata, literature review, drafting reports, and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking or recently completed Bachelor’s (final year only), Master’s, or Ph.D. in economics from a leading university, ideally with focus on microeconomics, and econometrics.
• Highly analytical
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Stata and Excel skills desirable
• Fluency in English and Finnish or a Scandinavian language

Responsibilities

• Analysing qualitative and quantitative client data to better understand how competition works in their industry
• Reviewing literature and contributing to discussions about the theoretical and empirical approach
• Conducting empirical analysis using Excel and Stata
• Drafting reports summarising analysis
• Participating in client meetings and conference calls
