Job summary

Enersense Engineering is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to join a data centre project in Helsinki, Finland. You will work with project management, site teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure a safe, compliant and high-performing construction environment.

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an similar role on large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience in data centre construction is highly advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and collaborate with project teams, contractors and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that project activities are carried out in accordance with the established HSE management system and project-specific requirements.
  • Develop, implement and maintain Construction Stage Health & Safety Plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on HSE performance, key initiatives, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable Health & Safety and environmental legislation, regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain project-specific Environmental, Health & Safety plans and procedures.
  • Review and support the preparation of method statements, risk assessments, Safe Plans of Action (SPA) and permit-to-work documentation.
  • Monitor implementation of the Project Execution Plan and ensure that relevant HSE requirements are followed.
  • Promote a strong and proactive safety culture across the project, site teams and subcontractor organisations.
  • Coordinate hazardous substance assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are identified and implemented.
  • Monitor safety observations, interventions and corrective actions, ensuring they are properly documented and closed out.
  • Carry out regular HSE inspections and audits, record findings and follow up on required actions.
  • Identify potential HSE risks at an early stage and support the implementation of effective preventive and corrective measures.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with project HSE requirements and ensure that relevant policies and procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate site HSE inductions, training and awareness activities for employees and subcontractors.
  • Lead and support accident and incident investigations.

Job description

Enersense Engineering is currently looking for a HSE Manager to join our client's data centre project in Helsinki, Finland. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring a safe, compliant and high-performing construction environment, working closely with project management, site teams, contractors and other stakeholders. The work will start as soon as possible.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Requirements:
  • Degree or relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related field
  • Strong understanding of applicable Health & Safety and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an similar role, preferably on large-scale construction projects
  • Previous experience within data centre construction is highly advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to manage HSE activities within a complex construction site environment
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and collaborate effectively with project teams, contractors and subcontractors
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing project requirements and priorities
  • Strong commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental performance
