Job summary

Enersense International Oyj is seeking an experienced HSE Manager for a data centre construction project in Helsinki, Finland. You will uphold a safe, compliant and high-performing site by working closely with project management, site teams and subcontractors.

You will develop, implement and maintain Construction Stage Health & Safety Plans, ensure regulatory compliance, lead inspections and audits, and report to senior management on HSE performance and risks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Health & Safety or Environmental Management required.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably on large-scale construction projects.
• Experience in data centre construction is highly advantageous.
• Ability to lead and coordinate HSE inductions, training and audits on site.

Job description

Enersense Engineering is currently looking for a HSE Manager to join our client's data centre project in Helsinki, Finland. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring a safe, compliant and high-performing construction environment, working closely with project management, site teams, contractors and other stakeholders. The work will start as soon as possible.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Ensure that project activities are carried out in accordance with the established HSE management system and project-specific requirements
• Develop, implement and maintain Construction Stage Health & Safety Plans throughout the project lifecycle
• Provide regular updates to senior management on HSE performance, key initiatives, risks and areas for improvement
• Ensure full compliance with applicable Health & Safety and environmental legislation, regulations and statutory requirements
• Implement and maintain project-specific Environmental, Health & Safety plans and procedures
• Review and support the preparation of method statements, risk assessments, Safe Plans of Action (SPA) and permit-to-work documentation
• Monitor implementation of the Project Execution Plan and ensure that relevant HSE requirements are followed
• Promote a strong and proactive safety culture across the project, site teams and subcontractor organisations
• Coordinate hazardous substance assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are identified and implemented
• Monitor safety observations, interventions and corrective actions, ensuring they are properly documented and closed out
• Carry out regular HSE inspections and audits, record findings and follow up on required actions
• Identify potential HSE risks at an early stage and support the implementation of effective preventive and corrective measures
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with project HSE requirements and ensure that relevant policies and procedures are followed
• Coordinate site HSE inductions, training and awareness activities for employees and subcontractors
• Lead and support accident and incident investigations

Requirements:

• Degree or relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related field
• Strong understanding of applicable Health & Safety and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an similar role, preferably on large-scale construction projects
• Previous experience within data centre construction is highly advantageous
• Demonstrated ability to manage HSE activities within a complex construction site environment
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and collaborate effectively with project teams, contractors and subcontractors
• Flexible and adaptable approach to changing project requirements and priorities
• Strong commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental performance
