Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a Functional Manager Control & Protection Engineering to lead and shape the Control & Protection Engineering function across multiple locations within our HUB Europe Operating Unit.

The role combines people leadership with governance, engineering excellence, and strategic development to ensure delivery today and build future capabilities. You will drive standardization of processes, tools, and ways of working, manage resources and capacity, and develop standard

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience within Substation Automation Systems, Control & Protection Engineering, or a closely related field.
Previous people leadership experience as a Team Leader or Manager, with a strong track record of developing high-performing teams.
Deep understanding of engineering processes, project execution, technical solutions, and tools within Substation Automation environments.
Experience in competency development, workforce planning, capacity management, engineering standardization, and organizational transformation initiatives.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across a complex international organization.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Additional European language skills are considered an advantage

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop a team of up to 12 Team Leaders responsible for Control and Protection Engineering resources across the Operating Unit.
Drive harmonization and standardization of engineering processes, tools, guidelines, and ways of working to enhance collaboration and delivery excellence.
Ensure effective utilization of engineering resources and accountability for the quality and performance of services delivered by the function.
Harmonize hardware and software engineering tools across the Control and Protection Engineering community.
Lead competency and capacity management activities to meet current and future project demands.
Develop and implement standard engineering solutions that strengthen efficiency, scalability, and market competitiveness.
Define and maintain cost estimation models for Control and Protection Engineering and testing activities within projects.
Contribute actively to the Operating Unit Substation Automation Engineering Management Team and support strategic initiatives, continuous improvement, and Center of Excellence projects.
